Whatsapp is the most popular instant messaging app available for android, iOS and Windows phone. Day by day Whatsapp goes under various bug fixes and new features come out with a newer build. A new feature in Whatsapp is introduced as 'Custom notifications' in which you can mute notifications from a contact, person or friend or even groups. You may need to turn off Whatsapp notifications at night, for this you do not need to switch off your phone, just enable 'Custom notifications' for that particular contact, person, friend or group. You also have the option to hide Whatsapp notifications in status bar. But you will still receive messages but would not hear any sound or see any notification unless you open the app.

How To Mute Notifications In Whatsapp

• Open the app and tap on any contact or friend's name for that you want to mute notification.
• Now tap the name on top. Scroll down a little bit. Here you will find 'Custom notifications'.
• Enable 'Mute'. 

• A popup will open. Either select '8 Hours', '1 Week' or '1 Year'.
• If you do not want notifications to show up in status bar then un-check 'Show notifications'.

• Now nobody will disturb you on Whatsapp at night or when you are busy.
