WIRELESS ELECTRICITY - SHOCKED?

Another huge success of science has been achieved. A team of researchers of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) published a shocking invention. They developed a wireless energy transfer technology that can make the wireless devices are always charged up and ready to go.

MIT is considered as the one of the top US academic "laboratories" for new inventions.Now they going to bring a revolution in this field. They tested it, and showed that it can offer a power of 60 watt bulb from a power source two meters away.

However a physics professor, Marin Soljacic of MIT in Cambridge added this technology is also useful for a laptop.The main concept behind the it is simple and based on the idea that two resonant objects on the same resonance frequency can exchange energy efficiently. They developed it with electromagnetic resonators. The resonators are made of copper coils, which oscillated at a certain frequency.Originating energy within a given electromagnetic field. After the coils was connected to a power source, the other play the role of a receiver.

The researchers shows the technology dubbed "WiTricity" does work. It is planned to refine it to make it more efficient. Though wireless power can be delivered within a room or a factory floor. But they are so much confident that the users can dispense with power cords and even batteries for their laptops, PDAs, Blackberries or cellphones if they are being used in the same room as the power source.

Soljacic's views about the experiment is,"This is a major milestone,The technology is almost at the point where it could be used for a practical application."
