By now you’ve all seen the movie—or heard the news at least: the main baddie in Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the son of Han Solo and Princess Leia. We never saw how he trained with the Knights of Ren after presumably living a life of love and support with his parents. Many wanted to know what life was like in the Solo household and how it was that Kylo—whose given name was Ben Solo—fell in with the wrong crowd. Unfortunately for them, the backstory was never fully provided, but we can assume that Ben, like a many teens of the world, was looking for meaning in his life and thought he could find it outside his home.
This is a scenario that occurs in households all over America and abroad—and not just in a galaxy far, far way. Thousands of kids a year, fall in with the wrong crowd and their parents have no idea it is happening until it is too late—but this doesn’t have to happen, because there are many things a parent can do to help their child stay on the right path … unlike Kylo Ren.
